New Vegas Resort Offers a World of Wine Opportunities

It’s always a big deal when a new resort opens in Las Vegas — a city that is constantly reinventing itself.

A major remodeling of the venerable Hard Rock Hotel and Casino was completed during the pandemic, and a few months ago the rebranded property reopened as Virgin Hotels Las Vegas — yes, the same Virgin brand that saw its founder, Sir Richard Branson, go up in space over the weekend.

Dining and drinking is a big part of the experience at Virgin (the hotel, not the rocket), and The Bar at Commons Club is described as a place where “savvy connoisseurs can enjoy locally sourced wine by the glass, beers and craft brews.”

Adds the hotel’s website: “Pinkies up for ‘boozy’ high tea while you take in the entertainment.”

(Thanks, but we’ll stick with the wines by the glass…)

More recently, the long-anticipated Resorts World opened on the north end of the Las Vegas Strip, boasting three Hilton hotel brands and more than 40 dining experiences.

The resort’s restaurants and bars offer lots of classic and craft cocktails, and there also is great wine to be had.

For instance, at the Genting Palace Lounge, available wines by the glass include Terlano Pinot Grigio, Chateau de Sancerre Sauvignon Blanc, Dr. Loosen Riesling, Domaine Laroche Chardonnay (Chablis), Chalk Hill Chardonnay, Patz & Hall Pinot Noir, Duckhorn Merlot and more.

There’s even a Bordeaux-style blend from the Yunnan Province of China, just in case you’ve ever wanted to sample a wine from that emerging growing region.

Obviously, the company takes the “World” in its Resorts world name seriously.

Not all of the restaurants have opened, and one that’s coming this fall holds particular promise for wine lovers. Bar Zazu is described as “a vibrant, chic café that showcases the spirit and flavors of Europe in a festive and stylish atmosphere. A tasting lounge will provide a relaxing environment for visitors to enjoy European tapas, brews, wine and cocktails.”

Tapas? Wine? Count us in.

As Las Vegas bounces back from the pandemic, tourists have been flocking to Resorts World to check out its stunning design work, massive gaming floor, the city’s largest pool complex and 70,000-square-foot shopping district.

It’s nice to know that there are “wine opportunities” among the options, including more to be uncovered as we explore the restaurant menus and await additional openings in the future.
