Last week we shined the spotlight on the home teams in the NFL Playoffs, and shared some wine pairing suggestions for fare you’d be likely to encounter in those cities.

In three of the four games, the home team one. The only visiting team that broke through was the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, led by six-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady.

As one might expect given Tampa’s coastal location, seafood is king in the home of the Bucs. Locals and visitors alike line up to dine at Eddie V’s Prime Seafood, Shells Seafood, Happyfish, Oystercatchers, Catch Twenty Three and Big Ray’s Fish Camp.

Each offers its own twist on a variety of seafood dishes, and a common word you hear about all of them is “fresh.”

The go-to wine for most seafood fare is Sauvignon Blanc, and other good choices include Chenin Blanc and Pinot Grigio. Of course, the wine selection may change if either a seasoning or sauce utilized dominates the flavor of the fish.

So, with two games on Sunday to determine which teams go to Super Bowl LV on Feb. 7, it’ll be the seafood and Sauvignon Blanc (or Chenin Blanc or Pinot Grigio) of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers against the cheese curds and Prosecco (or Chardonnay) of the Green Bay Packers, and the beef on weck sandwich and Cabernet Sauvignon (or Merlot) of the Buffalo Bills against the barbecue burnt ends and Zinfandel (or Chianti) of the Kansas City Chiefs.

Even if your team is no longer in the hunt, pick a favorite based on your preferred kind of wine and enjoy the games!
